Abstract:

Sage Research, the Technology practice of Chadwick Martin Bailey, conducted an IP Telephony Best Practices contest to discover the real-world benefits and challenges experienced by companies that have already gone through successful IP telephony implementations.

A review of the contest submissions uncovered the following recurring themes about realized IP telephony benefits:

bullet

Cost benefits

bullet

End-user and IT Staff productivity improvements

bullet

Business resiliency

bullet

Higher employee and customer satisfaction

Surprisingly, contest participants encountered many more organizational challenges than technical, financial or planning challenges when implementing IP telephony solutions. Additionally, our participants cited careful planning as one of the most important contributors to the success of their IP telephony deployments.
